SIMONE. Painted by Jules Gabriel Dubois-Menant, French painter (born 1855-?).
Size of the painting diameter approx 46,2 cm (height approx 46,5cm,

The French artist Jules Dubois was born in April 11th 1855 in Craon (Mayenne) in France. Exhibition with a portrait of Jules Verne in the salon in Paris 1897. He became a successful artist, well-known under his artist name Dubois Menant. He probably died 1921

Daniel Charles GROSE (1838-1890).
Antique oil painting, a beautiful young mother with her lovely
children in a wood-landscape, the young woman helds her baby in her
arms. A small bridge leads us over a lively creek in an open landscape.

Charles GROSE (1838-1890), excellent quality, framed with antique gilded
frame.
The antique painting is not signed, verso there is an old
paper label D.C. Grose and an old number, probably a number from an
auction. The painting ist absolutely beautiful, please see photos.
Daniel Charles Grose was born 1838. Very little is known of Grose's
early years. He may have migrated to Canada or directly to the United
States, though the proliferation of his early work in Canadian museums
and galleries suggests the former. Most advertisements of his work call
him an American or Canadian artist. Grose's work indicates an affinity
to the second generation of the Hudson River School (ca. 1848-1900). The
Samuel Dorksy Museum of Art lists two of his works as examples of the
Hudson school. Most of Grose's exeunt work depicts pastoral landscapes,
or romantic scenes with ruins. The earliest known Grose works are dated
1865 and consist of a series of landscapes in the province of Quebec. On
May 25, 1881, in Washington, D.C., Grose married Estelle Harriet Smith
(1863-1914), also an artist. She was the daugther of Captain Dwight
Hayden Smith and his wife Luana Elizabeth Smith of Alexandria, Virginia.
Between 1881 and 1884 Grose and harriet took a trip around the world.
Grose was a member of and exhibited at the Brooklyn Art Association.
Grose died in Alexandria at his mother-in-law's house on February 24,
1900. His funeral was held the next day in Washington at his former
residence.

The wood panel is in solid condition, no woodworm, no tears. and precious.

Original, antique miniature gouache painting on paper, framed under
glass, with antique wood-frame. The beautiful miniature is not signed,
very probably painted by an academic painter. High quality, the hair and
the face of the child is painted so fine.
Old frame with engraved
metal ring, probably gilded. Frame with loop, the miniature is ready for
display. Somebody put a small paper label on the backside of the frame
(possibly the id of the child or artist?).

Beautiful antique painting, a lovely boy with his horse and little dog in a
park, dated about 1915. Oil on canvas framed with wooden frame. The painting is
not signed, on the backside on the canvas there are information about the
Polnish painter Jan Chelminski. The preowner wrote in a letter that the boy on
the horse possibly could be the young Alexei Nikolajewitsch Romanow, the only
son of the Russian Zar. I don't know if this is true or not. I cannot guarrantee
that the painting was painted by Chelminski because the painting is not signed.
It is good quality, a beautiful portrait of a boy with his loved horse and dog.
Measurements with frame length approx 26.3" , width approx 22.2".
Jan Chelminski, Jan Wladyslaw Chelminski was born in January 27th 1851 in Brzustow at Inowlodz, hie died 1925 in New York City. He was a well-known Polnish painter. Alexei Nikolajewitsch Romanow was the only son of Nikolaus II and Alexandra Fjodorowna.

information after her death in memory of Fideline.
The beautiful
miniature is not signed, probably painted by an academic painter. High
quality, the hair and the face of the Fideline is painted so fine.

In good condition for age, only minor traces of use. I could not find any damages, no hairlines. There is only a light gray shimmer on her right arm, probably from the antique material on which the portrait is painted on. The antique glass is in good condition, no cracks.
